The door bell rings…
After signing to accept delivery from the smartly dressed UPS man the carefully wrapped parcel is handed to me.
I curiously open it to find…. “It’s arrived !” I shout. The book! Sweet acknowledgement for my illustrations….
Let me start at the beginning...
Earlier this year I was approached to help a very special person… she lives in the US, and is an accomplished international Artist known as Yoko Ono.
I’m sure many of you will know her name, but if you’re unsure. She’s an multimedia Artist, singer, songwriter and peace activist. She’s also known for her involvement with a special song. Imagine, performed with John Lennon and the title of the book.
I don’t normally produce illustrations for books, but because of my technical abilities in illustration, I was commissioned to help illustrate elements for this publication, that needed accurate and artistic interpretation from limited reference.
The book is fascinating and while researching reference, I found myself falling deeper into the subject with a curiosity and emotions I don’t normally get when researching on a commission. Looking at the photos of John and Yoko laughing and doing day to day things, gave me an inside view of what are iconic people in history. I felt honoured to have the opportunity to provide illustrations for this book.
I understand that there’s a 90 minute TV program on Channel 4 by Producers Eagle Rock to air this weekend.
And please feel free to contact me and share this information with people you think would appreciate it.
