Freelancer ? “Is it worth having a website?”

Words and pictures by Adrian Cartwright

As a freelancer illustrator for over 30 years, I’ve found having a my own website to be very beneficial for my business.

Here are some reasons why I think as a freelancer you should have a website:

  1. Professionalism: Having a website makes you look more professional and trustworthy to potential clients. It shows that you are serious about your business and have invested in a professional online presence.
  2. Marketing: Your website is a great tool for marketing your services to potential clients. You can use it to showcase your portfolio, display testimonials from satisfied clients, and promote your skills and expertise 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and to nearly anyone in the world.
  3. Visibility: By having a website, you make it easier for people to find you online. This can help you attract new clients and increase your visibility in your industry.
  4. Control: With your own website, you have complete control over your online presence. You can customise your site to reflect your brand and messaging, and you don’t have to worry about a third-party platform changing its policies or algorithms that could send your online profile into a void without you knowing.
  5. Convenience: Having a website can make it easier for clients to work with you. You can provide information about your services, pricing, and availability, and even allow clients to book appointments or contact you directly through your site.

Overall, having a website can be a valuable asset for any freelancer. It can help you establish credibility, attract new clients, and grow your business over time.
