Description:
Cartoon of a Multi-tasking engineer balancing a wide range of challenges.
Concept:
The client—an international brand recognised for engineering excellence wanted a series of graphic illustrations from a visual storyteller to support an internal presentation focused on engineering management. The illustrations needed to complement both the written and spoken narrative, reinforcing key ideas without overwhelming the content.
Styling:
The client was drawn to the visual language commonly seen in TED Talk presentations but wanted a more refined approach—“not too cartoony, yet still sketch-like”. As the presentation was for internal use only, a relaxed and approachable tone was preferred over a highly corporate aesthetic. The style was intentionally simple, allowing engineers to relate easily while avoiding excessive detail that could distract from the message. Each illustration needed to communicate its idea quickly and clearly, aligned closely with the presentation’s narrative.
Notes:
Planet have worked closely with the client on many projects over twenty years and a style of illustration has developed between them over that time that was perfect for this commission. This illustration was part of a cohesive set of ten, all following the same visual style illustrated using Adobe illustrator software to support the presentation and deliver clear, consistent messages throughout.
